Phuket, Thailand – Beautiful Beaches & Colorful Nightlife

Phuket, ThailandThai Airways operates a number of flights to the southern part of their country, specifically to their beautiful beach destination of Phuket. Phuket is known for its beautiful, sprawling beaches and offers traditional and modern delights to the visitors. Direct flight service is available from all the leading cities of the world. There are number of flights flying to this island, so getting a ticket is easy and always available. You can book your accommodation through authorized travel agents or you can contact the hotels directly (best). There is rarely a shortage of hotel rooms near the beach, and the rent will range from 1000 baht to 5000 baht ($30- $100) depending on the suite you book. I stayed in the hotel called Patong Bay Garden, located near the beach about 10-15 meters from the hotel. Vacation is meant to be spent outside of the hotel room, so I ignored the meager accommodations which left much to be desired.

The price for the junior suite was 2000 baht, including breakfast. The location of the hotel was very good for the awesome Thai-beach-night life. The beach is full of so many activities, it would be difficult to become bored in Phuket. For 600-800 baht, you can rent a water jet for half an hour and go wild in the waves. You can also hire a small motorcycle or a big 4×4 and ride around the island (no need for license); the price for hiring is very inexpensive.

Night life is wonderful at Phuket beach. The entire island is turned to a fabulous color of lights during the night, with lots partying locals and tourists alike. You can find many shops, bars, and restaurants open late. Thailand’s nightlife is a great experience to remember. Thai cuisine offers traditional Thai recipes, European and continental cuisine to the travelers. You can find a number of hotels that offer both Thai food and European food. I was told that the best recipes for traditional Thai food can be found at Phuket beach. A week long stay at Phuket beach was most definitely an unforgettable experience for me. Some of the interesting places to visit in Phuket beach are Simon Cabaret, Phi Phi Islands, Patong Horror show, Go-kart and mini-golf for golf lovers. Renting a car for local sight seeing is a good option, for a minimum of 20 baht you can get a good car to ride. However when you travel inside the city it is best to have a motorbike or cycle. Be careful, as the lane-discipline is not maintained and you will encounter vehicles passing you on the left or right-hand side, despite the amount of room they may have! If you get a chance to stroll, bike, or drive these streets, you’ll quickly experience the craziness comes with being in a popular Thai destination.

My friends and I visited Simon Cabaret, as per a suggestion from a school-buddy that had been to Phuket before. Simon Cabaret turned out to be one of the biggest transvestite shows in Thailand. The show features spectacular music, mixed with vibrant colors, costumes, and performances by the famous ‘lady boys’ of Thailand. This theatrical extravaganza was actually a very fun and entertaining show to watch.

Also, if you take a 45 minute drive from Phuket you can reach Phi Phi Island, another popular beach, second only to Phuket. It is located between the Andaman Islands and Thailand. Silky soft beaches of Phi Phi offer scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking and rock climbing activities for travelers. Patong horror show is a delightful amusement theme park filled with lot of activities. Phuket also offers some amazing golf courses for travelers that are truly passionate about golf. You’ll see some beautifully designed golf courses within Blue Canyon and Mission hills.

All-in-all, Phuket was a great experience, and full of numerous activities and beautiful scenery!

Nice short article, but it would be great to hear a lot more about the night life! I haven’t been to Phuket, but a couple of my buddies went last summer and said it was ‘off the hook’…
